What Is Ceramic Coating
and How Does It Work?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your car's clear coat, creating a semi-permanent protective layer that becomes part of the surface itself. Unlike wax or spray sealant, it doesn't sit on top of the paint — it bonds to it at a molecular level.

Once cured, it forms an extremely hard, hydrophobic (water-repelling) shell over your paintwork. Water beads and rolls off, carrying dirt with it. Bird droppings and contaminants can't etch into the clear coat because the ceramic layer takes the hit first.

The result is paint that stays cleaner longer, washes easier, looks deeper and glossier, and is protected from UV, oxidation, light scratches and environmental damage for years — not weeks.

Six Reasons Brisbane Car Owners
Choose Ceramic Coating

From daily drivers to weekend sports cars — ceramic coating is the single best long-term investment you can make in your car's paintwork.

Extreme Hydrophobics

Water beads off the surface at nearly 100 degrees contact angle, taking dirt, brake dust and grime with it. Your car stays cleaner for much longer between washes.

UV and Oxidation Protection

Brisbane's sun is brutal on paint. Ceramic coating blocks UV rays that cause fading, chalking and oxidation — keeping your paint colour rich and deep for years.

Chemical Resistance

Bird droppings, tree sap, road tar and industrial fallout are highly acidic and etch into unprotected clear coat within hours. The ceramic layer takes the damage — not your paint.

Scratch Resistance

A 9H hardness rating means the surface is significantly harder than your clear coat alone. Light contact scratches, swirl marks from washing and minor abrasion are resisted rather than absorbed by the paint.

Easier to Clean

Dirt and contaminants struggle to bond to a ceramic-coated surface. A simple rinse removes most grime. No more spending hours washing and drying — a coated car washes in minutes.

Incredible Gloss Depth

A properly applied ceramic coating adds a layer of clarity and depth to your paint that wax simply can't match. The finish looks wet, deep and glass-like — permanently.

Not All Coatings Are
Created Equal.

Not All Ceramic Coatings Are Created Equal

We regularly get called out to re-coat cars where a budget or entry-level ceramic coating was applied — often included or sold as an add-on when the car was purchased. Within 6 to 12 months, the water repelling properties have failed completely, the paint is picking up water spots and the car looks no different to an uncoated vehicle.

The reason is straightforward: budget-grade consumer products don't genuinely bond to the paint surface the same way professional coatings do. They can look great on day one — but they don't have the chemical structure to last. Preparation also matters enormously — a coating applied over contaminated or defect-ridden paint will never perform as it should, regardless of the product.

We only ever use professional-grade, industry-proven coatings. Products applied properly, after thorough paint preparation and correction, by someone who knows what they're doing. That's the difference between a coating that lasts and one that doesn't.

How We Apply Your Ceramic Coating

Every step matters. There are no shortcuts in a proper coating job — this is why ours lasts and others don't.

1. Full Decontamination Wash

We start with a full foam pre-soak, contact wash, iron fallout removal and clay bar decontamination. Every surface must be completely clean before any polishing or coating begins.

2. Paint Inspection

Under dedicated LED lighting we inspect every panel for swirl marks, scratches, water spots and oxidation. This determines what level of correction is needed before coating.

3. Paint Correction

We machine polish the entire car to remove defects before coating. This is the step most people skip — and the reason their coating locks in swirls forever. We don't skip it.

4. Panel Prep & IPA Wipe

After correction, every panel is wiped with isopropyl alcohol to remove any polish residue, oils or contamination. The surface must be perfectly bare for the coating to bond properly.

5. Ceramic Coating Application

Working panel by panel, we apply the coating with specialist applicator blocks. Timing, temperature and humidity are all managed carefully to ensure a proper bond and even coverage.

6. Cure and Final Inspection

The coating is levelled and left to cure. We do a final inspection under lighting to confirm complete, even coverage. You get a care guide and we walk you through what to expect.

Ceramic Coating FAQ

What is ceramic coating and how does it work?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your car's clear coat at a molecular level, creating a permanent protective layer. Unlike wax, it doesn't wash off — it becomes part of the surface and provides long-term protection against UV, water spots, bird droppings, road grime and light scratches.
How long does ceramic coating last?
We offer three warranty-backed packages — 3 year, 5 year and 10 year. Our 5 and 10 year packages use a two-coat application for superior durability and depth. All packages include a written warranty certificate and use professional-grade coatings only.
Does my car need paint correction before ceramic coating?
Yes — always. Ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath it permanently. If you coat over swirl marks, scratches or oxidation, those defects are sealed in for the life of the coating. We always do paint correction first to ensure the coating goes on perfect paint.
Is ceramic coating worth it on a new car?
Absolutely — new cars are the best candidate. The paint is flawless, so the coating goes on a perfect base. It then protects that finish for years, keeping the car looking new much longer and dramatically reducing maintenance time and wash frequency.
Why do some ceramic coatings fail within a year?
Most coating failures come down to two things: product quality and preparation. Budget-grade consumer coatings don't bond as strongly as professional products and degrade faster. Poor preparation — coating over contaminated or defective paint — also causes premature failure. We use professional-grade products and always do full decontamination, paint correction and panel prep before any coating goes on.
How do I maintain a ceramic coated car?
Much easier than an uncoated car. A regular rinse removes most dirt. For a proper wash, use a pH-neutral shampoo and a quality microfibre mitt. Avoid automatic car washes — the brushes will scratch the coating. We provide a full care guide with every coating job.
Do you do mobile ceramic coating across all Brisbane suburbs?
Yes — we come to your home or workplace across all Brisbane suburbs. We set up a full professional detailing station at your location. No workshop required. No travel fees.
